Methodology

Why we reject arbitrary AI "charisma scores" in favor of deterministic acoustic signals.

1. Browser-Native Web Audio Analysis

The Second Take samples audio through the browser AudioContext and AnalyserNode at 100ms intervals. We compute Root-Mean-Square (RMS) amplitude directly over the PCM buffer. No external voice server receives your stream.

2. Deterministic Cadence vs. Opaque Diagnostics

Many consumer tools manufacture "confidence percentages" or psychological profiles from short audio clips. Such scores are scientifically unvalidated and promote artificial delivery. We only report what can be measured: time duration, vocalized intervals, and pauses exceeding 2.5 seconds.

3. Environmental Noise Limitations

Acoustic RMS measurement is sensitive to room echo, background chatter, or high HVAC noise. We apply automatic gain control and noise suppression filters when requested through getUserMedia constraints, but rehearsal statistics remain an assistive guide rather than a clinical measurement.
